LWC provided engineering design assistance for a Middle School Campus Re-Development Project. The intent of the BMP design was to reduce impacts to a downstream environmentally sensitive public recreational lake area. The Project received U.S. EPA and Chicago Wilderness Native Landscaping Design Award honors. Engineering Design Practices included providing an extended flow path for three wetland detention basins, bioretention storage for campus rooftop runoff, bioswales storage and retention, vegetated swales, parking lot filter and bioswale zones, parking lot filter strips, sediment forebays, and native planting specifications. Stormwater Engineering Design was based on pollutant modeling, stormwater calculations, nutrient loading, protection of downstream 19-acre lake, and groundwater assessment.
