Case Study

Flood Reduction Study – Private HOA

The Flood Reduction Project was completed for a private Homeowners Association (HOA) where several residences were affected by nuisance flooding. Watershed-based site investigations were utilized. Living Waters Consultants, Inc. provided flood evaluations, compensatory floodplain storage plans, modeling assessment, and preparation of exhibits depicting residential flood protection ranging from the 10-year to the 100-year flood recurrent interval. Results indicated that flood impacts resulted from conditions over one mile away from the project site. Implementation including cooperative water resources management agreements among agencies such as the Forest Preserve District of Lake County, Village of Barrington, and Flint Creek Watershed Partnership. Results provided for improved management of outlet control structures as well as routine stream maintenance protocols. The resulting Flood Reduction Plan was supported by the Flint Creek Watershed Partnership.
