Illinois EPA Watershed Plan – Upper Fox River

Living Waters Consultants was selected by the Kane-DuPage SWCD along with Geosyntec to help to prepare an Illinois EPA approved Jelkes Creek‒Fox River Watershed Plan. LWC served to review and prepare design measures and cost estimates for over 80 proposed water quality improvement projects in the watershed submitted by stakeholders. Project categories included detention basin retrofits, stream corridor restoration, wetland mitigation, wetland restoration, rain gardens, bioswales, and other water quality improvements. LWC provided detailed costs, descriptions of recommended BMPs, and identify project leaders for a subset of 28 BMP projects in the watershed. The Upper Fox River Watershed drains 40 square miles (24,916 acres) of land. The water is located in Kane, McHenry, and Cook Counties. The watershed encompasses portions of ten communities and is located along a 12.4 mile stretch of the Fox River.
